Intended Use
This is a compression device to assist homeostasis of the radial artery after a transradial procedure.
Instruction
- After the punctural operation is completed, pull the sheath out for 2-3cm; in the meantime; make sure no vasospasm occurs. If vasospasm is evident, it should be treated before the homeostasis procedure begins.
- Align the front edge of the compression pad with puncture point, the apply the device to the patient.
Caution: This device should be positioned differently when used on different hands (left or right) of the patient. When attaching the device, the strap slot should be located on the same side of the patient’s little finger.
- Insert the Velcro band into the strap slot on the wrist plate; keep the top of the pressure indicator leveled with turn cap; affix the Velcro band firmly.
- Rotate the turn cap following the arrow indicating direction, tighten the turn cap clockwise by three to five laps, the green pressure zone (100-200mmHg) represents safe pressure area; if the indicator is over the midline of the green zone, the pressure indicates approximately 150mmHg; keep rotating to yellow pressure zone (200-250mmHg), it suggests excessive pressure, then the device will lock up for protection from tissue damage.
Note: the choice of haemostatic pressure depends on individual condition. Complete the operation and check the bleeding status, confirm that the radial artery and ulnar artery pulses to avoid tissue ischemic necrosis. Checking methods are as follows: 1.Pressing patient’s thumb or index finger to see if the blood quickly filled in pressed area, check whether the radial artery runs well or not; 2.The thumb arterial pulse can be felt.
- When removing the sheath, compress both ends of wrist plate to yield a small space allowing the sheath to be pulled out without damaging the tissues, the pressure should be referred to the position of the green pressure indicator.
Caution: 1.During extraction, the pressure should be remaining to the level when there is no bleeding accured; the pressure indicator should not be exceeding the top yellow zone; 2. after the sheath removed, the wrist plate should be released swiftly to avoid unexpected bleeding.
- After appropriate time (depending on the dosage of HEPARIN given), decompress the device by turning turn cap 1/2 to 1 full counter-clockwise circle every 45minutes to 1 hour. If the bleeding re-occurs, apply compression until haemostasis is achieved and repeat above steps.
- When haemostats is completed, rotating the turn cap counter clockwise, remove the tourniquet; confirm no bleeding on the puncture site and cover the puncture site dressing.
Note: Avoid upper limb motion in 2 hours after operation. Constrain motion of the wrist joint for 4-6 hours.
