CFA couplings, models CH160 and CH175, are specifications of hexagonal quick connectors . They are core connecting components for drilling tools in the CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) construction method, used for torque transmission and fast assembly/disassembly between drill pipe sections, as well as between the drill pipe and the rig’s rotary head.
The number following "CH" stands for the nominal across-flats dimension of the hexagon (in mm). Specifically, CH160 has a hexagonal across-flats width of 160 mm, and CH175 has a width of 175 mm.

Structural & Performance Features
1. Quick-connect design: It adopts a hexagonal plug-in structure without bolt fastening, allowing rapid connection and removal of drill pipe sections to significantly boost construction efficiency. The hexagonal contact surface ensures stable torque transmission under heavy load without slipping.
2. Hollow grouting passage: The coupling has a central through-hole connected to the hollow drill pipe body, which acts as the pumping channel for concrete or grout in the CFA process to ensure continuous and smooth grouting.
3. High-strength construction: Typically forged from high-strength alloy structural steel and reinforced by full heat treatment, it features excellent torsional strength, impact resistance and fatigue durability, and can withstand alternating drilling loads in complex strata such as dense clay and sandy gravel.
