Performance Characteristics of Drive Shaft Forgings

  1. High toughness & torsion resistance for heavy load bearingAdopting high-strength alloy steel such as 42CrMo. The combined process of multi-directional upsetting & drawing is applied with forging ratio ≥4. Grains are refined to ASTM Grade 6–10. Tensile strength ≥900MPa, yield strength ≥750MPa, torsion strength ≥850MPa. The forgings steadily withstand ultra-high torque above 10000kN·m, suitable for heavy equipment such as shield machines and mining crushers.

  2. Fatigue & wear resistance for long-term serviceVibration stress relief eliminates over 95% residual internal stress. The torsional fatigue life reaches tens of millions of cycles. Fatigue life of wind power drive shafts exceeds 20 million cycles, meeting over 20 years continuous operation requirements, with service life 50% longer than ordinary forgings.

  3. High precision & low vibrationKey dimensional tolerance reaches IT7 grade. Straightness ≤0.2mm/m, journal circular runout ≤0.005mm, spline indexing error ≤0.01mm. Precise matching with bearings and gears reduces secondary machining and customers’ assembly costs.

  4. Custom structure for diverse application scenariosCustomizable range: diameter φ80mm–φ1200mm, single weight up to 50 tons. Solid shafts, hollow shafts and complex structures with splines, flanges and threads are available to fit various installation spaces and transmission demands.
