Diaphragm valves are a type of shut-off valve that uses a diaphragm as the closing element to seal the flow channel, cut off the flow of fluid, and separate the inner cavity of the valve body from the inner cavity of the valve cover. The diaphragm is typically made of elastic, corrosion-resistant, and non-permeable materials such as rubber or plastic. The valve body is often constructed from plastic, fiberglass, ceramic, or metal materials lined with rubber. These valves feature a simple structure, excellent sealing and corrosion-resistant properties, as well as low fluid resistance. They are suitable for use in low-pressure, low-temperature applications, as well as in environments with corrosive substances or suspended particles. Based on their structural design, they can be categorized as ridge-type, globe-type, or gate-type. According to the method of operation, they can be manual, pneumatic, or electric.
The structural design of the diaphragm valve is significantly different from that of conventional valves. It represents a new type of valve, specifically a special form of shut-off valve. Its operating component is a diaphragm made of soft material, which separates the inner cavity of the valve body from the inner cavity of the valve cover as well as the driving components. Diaphragm valves are now widely used in various fields. Common types of diaphragm valves include rubber-lined diaphragm valves, fluorine-lined diaphragm valves, unlined diaphragm valves, and plastic diaphragm valves.
