Wholesale Steel Sideboard for Brisbane Importers — Tempered Glass, Flat Pack KD, OEM Colour
If you import furniture into Queensland, this steel sideboard is built around how you actually sell it. It's a 1017mm tall cabinet with tempered glass doors, adjustable shelves and a powder-coated steel body. It ships flat packed, so it moves in cartons instead of eating container space.

Why Brisbane Importers Are Moving Off Timber Sideboards
Brisbane runs 65–80% humidity through the wet season, then drops to 40–55% in winter. Timber moves with that swing. You see it as open joints, cupped doors and surface checking after the first summer.
Cheap MDF is worse. Once moisture reaches a raw edge or an unsealed screw hole, the board swells and the laminate lifts off. That unit doesn't get repaired. It gets written off, and you carry it.
There's a third problem people forget: mould. Warm, damp air settles on timber surfaces, and the back panel is the first place it shows. Customers don't complain about a swollen door. They complain about a smell.

If you sell into hospitality or short-stay accommodation, that last row is the whole argument. Operators replace swollen timber cabinets every few years. Steel ones they keep.
What Flat Pack KD Actually Saves You
KD means knock-down: the cabinet arrives as panels and fittings, not as a finished unit. An assembled sideboard is mostly air. You pay to ship that air from China to the Port of Brisbane, then pay again to move it up the coast. Flat packing strips the volume out.
Three things change:
Container volume — cartons stack tight, so more units fit per 40HQ than with assembled imports.
Last-mile handling — flat cartons pass through a standard 80cm doorway and up a stairwell without a two-man lift.
Warehouse space — stock sits flat instead of racked, which frees floor area you're already paying for.
Now the honest part. Flat pack only works when the fittings are right. Cheap KD units land with bolts missing or holes that don't line up, and you wear the labour cost of sorting it out. We run a trial assembly before a batch ships, and we send the packing list with carton dimensions so your forwarder can price freight properly.
One more thing to plan for: flat pack means someone assembles it at the other end. On hospitality projects that's the fit-out crew. In retail, it's your customer. Ours are illustrated, and we can print them under your brand.
Sky Blue, and Any Other Colour You Want
Walk through an Australian furniture showroom and you'll see oak, white, black and walnut. Sky blue barely exists in the buffet category. That's not an accident. It's an opening.
A colour nobody else stocks gives a retailer a reason to give you shelf space. It also gives a short-stay operator a reason to pick your unit for a coastal apartment where every other listing looks the same.

What to Check Before You Commit to a Supplier
Most problems with imported KD furniture show up in month three, not on arrival. Four things are worth testing before you place a bulk order.
Ask for a trial assembly. A unit that goes together on video is a unit that goes together on site. If a supplier won't show you one, that tells you something.
Check the fittings, not the panels. Bolts, cam locks and hinges are where cheap units fail. Panels look identical in photos.
Get the carton dimensions in writing. Your freight cost is decided by volume, not weight. Without carton sizes, your forwarder is guessing.
Confirm the colour in a physical sample. Screens lie, and a batch of sky blue that arrives two shades off is stock you can't move.

Ordering, Packing and Lead Time
Packing is moisture film, corner protectors and separate part packing. Glass panels are crated separately with foam board between the panes, because one cracked door kills the whole order.
Bulk lead time is typically 30–45 days after deposit and artwork approval. Stock sky blue runs faster. We confirm the exact window on your order.
