Electrolytic Seawater Chlorination Device for Seawater Cooling System of Offshore Platform
Product Spotlights
High-Load Adaptability:
Modular Design:
Tailored for high-intensity industrial operations, the system delivers consistent and powerful disinfection capabilities to meet the anti-fouling needs of circulating water in large industrial clusters, ensuring smooth production processes.
Adopts a modular structure that simplifies later-stage expansion and maintenance. Modules can be flexibly added or upgraded according to operational scale adjustments, reducing downtime and lowering maintenance costs.
Product Overview
The seawater electrolytic chlorine system draws raw seawater, filters it, and produces on-site sodium hypochlorite by electrolysis. The generated available chlorine is dosed into the raw water pipeline of the seawater desalination plant to sterilize algae, bacteria and marine organisms, prevent biofouling, and protect UF/RO membranes. Dechlorination is applied before reverse osmosis to avoid membrane damage.

Technical Parameters
Application Scenarios
The LHB-220 system is ideally suited for large-scale industrial facilities with high-volume circulating water treatment needs, including:
Extra-large power plants
Large LNG receiving terminals
Coastal heavy industry bases
Power plants (including thermal power, nuclear power, and hydropower plants) rely heavily on large-flow circulating water systems for cooling generators, condensers, and other core equipment. High salinity, high temperature, and continuous operation easily lead to biological fouling (such as algae and bacteria), scaling, and corrosion in pipelines and equipment. The LHB-220 system can stably produce high-concentration available chlorine, effectively inhibiting the growth of fouling organisms, preventing pipeline blockages and equipment corrosion, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the power generation system, and avoiding production interruptions caused by water system failures.
LNG receiving terminals require a large amount of circulating water for cooling during the unloading, storage, and gasification of liquefied natural gas. Coastal environments expose the water system to high salt content and complex marine microorganisms, which can cause severe fouling and corrosion of key equipment such as heat exchangers and pipelines. The system's seawater electrolysis technology is perfectly adapted to the high-salinity working environment of terminals, generating chlorine on-site without the need for additional chemical agents. It efficiently controls fouling and microbial growth, protecting expensive LNG processing equipment and ensuring the stability and continuity of terminal operations.
Coastal heavy industry bases (including petroch-emical, steel, non-ferrous metal smelting, and ot-her industries) have largescale circulating water systems for process cooling, equipment cooling, and other purposes. These industries typically op-erate under high load, high temperat-ure, and high pollution conditions, making their water systems prone to severe fouling and microbial contamina-tion. The LHB-220 system's highload adaptability and customized control schemes can match the complex working conditions of heavy industry, pr-oviding continuous and efficient antifouling prote-ction. It helps reduce equipment maintenance fre-quency, extend service life, and lower overall ope-rating costs while complying with environmental protection requirements for green production.
Its robust performance and scalable design make it a versatile solution for industries requiring efficient, long-term anti-fouling and disinfection of circulating water, ensuring operational safety and productivity.
Core Process Flow
Seawater Inlet & Pressure Management
Raw seawater enters via the Seawater Inlet, then passes through the Pressure Regulator (with a parallel Safety Drain for pressure relief) to stabilize inlet pressure.
Seawater Pretreatment
Pressurized seawater is sent to the Seawater Booster Pump for flow enhancement, then filtered by the Seawater Strainer to remove impurities (protecting downstream components).
Flow Control & Electrolysis
Pretreated seawater goes through Flow Control to adjust to the required volume, then enters the Electrolyzer:
1. The Transformer Rectifier supplies DC power to drive the electrolysis reaction (converting seawater chloride ions into hypochlorite).
2. The Acid Washing System maintains electrolyzer performance via periodic cleaning.
Gas Separation & Storage
The electrolyzed mixture (hypochlorite + hydrogen gas) flows to the Degassing & Storage Tank:
· Hydrogen is vented safely via Hydrogen Vent to Open Atmosphere (assisted by the Air Blower for gas displacement).
Final Output
The purified hypochlorite solution is pumped out via the Injection Pump to the Hypochlorite Outlet for disinfection application.
